PROGRAMS

  • In May of 1997, the Food Bank began the Brown Bag Program for seniors which supplies supplementary groceries each month to seniors who live below the poverty level. The program now serves more than 1,200 seniors throughout four counties.

  • The Food Bank has converted a beer truck into a Mobile Food Pantry for a creative method of distribution that serves people directly from the vehicle. This “moveable food pantry” helps to by-pass many of the limitations of storage space and lack of refrigeration and can go directly to the areas of need.

  • The Baby Manna Program is a program that addresses the need for emergency

assistance for infants from birth through 12 months of age. Formula, baby food and diapers for infants are distributed through our agency network to families experiencing a crisis.
  • Our large-sized cooler enables us to have a Produce Program that makes fresh fruits and vegetables and other perishable food items available to our agencies. Last year, more than 252 tons of fresh produce were distributed to member agencies.
  • Freezers on loan: The large freezer at the Food Bank plays a critical role in providing an assortment of perishable food to our agencies. In order to help our agencies handle this product, the Food Bank has purchased and loaned 30 chest freezers to agencies to use in their programs.
