HISTORY
The Food Bank of East Alabama was founded in 1993 by a group of
concerned, caring citizens who felt the need to centralize the
distribution of donated food. From modest beginnings, the Food
Bank has made great strides in service to the needy of our community.
Initially the Food Bank distributed an average of 15,000 pounds
of food a month to thirty agencies primarily in the Auburn-Opelika
area. Today more than 275,000 pounds of food is distributed to
more than 150 agencies throughout East Central Alabama.
